About Me

Dave Wolken, PhD, NASM-CPT, TIYT, CYT

Hi - I'm Dave: movement enthusiast, metabolic-holistic health specialist and independent scholar-researcher. My life's mission is to help people reclaim and expand their innate capacity for life-long health and wellness through intelligent and medicinal movement. I believe that mind and body are completely wrapped up together (through a Doctoral Research Fellowship at Syracuse University, I wrote my dissertation on embodied cognition, autopoietic biology, and mindfulness).

After decades of playing various sports, participating in a diverse range of physical activities, working a variety of physically demanding jobs, and researching countless facets of health, wellness, psychology, and metabolism, I'm bringing my unique knowledge and experience to you.

Throughout my youth and into adulthood, I have played a variety of sports and participated in a diverse range of activities including football, soccer, baseball, track, gymnastics, road cycling, mountain biking, unicycling, skateboarding, rollerblading, slacklining, rock climbing, yoga, hiking, backpacking and plain ol' tree climbing. Beyond all the fun stuff, I've also worked in a number of physically-intensive jobs including farming, construction, masonry, carpentry, gardening, trail building, heavy equipment operation, and landscaping.

Through all of this, I've remained healthy and uninjured. I attribute this partly to some genetic luck but largely due to the fact that I have committed myself to proper cognitive and kinesthetic hygiene throughout my life. In other words, I've kept myself in shape and given my body~mind what it needs to maintain its health and innate wellness.

My research and experience shows that humans are innately capable, adaptable, and resilient. No matter where you are in life, what you've experienced, and how much contemporary society has compromised your health -- you can reclaim your innate strength and experience the joy of living a fully embodied life.
